This is the third volume in a series from a symposium on this subject cosponsored by the Ear Research Foundation of Florida and the House Ear Institute. This symposium, as before, has brought together an outstanding group of clinicians from otolaryngology and neurosurgery to discuss various aspects of neurological diseases of the ear and skull base. The result is a compilation of 55 papers presenting a wide range of topics and increasing scope, and, as one would expect, presents varying viewpoints.
The volume is divided into nine sections, including discussions and problems of the facial nerve, neurootological evaluation, pituitary gland surgery, facial pain, electrical stimulation of the CNS (cochlear implant status), acoustic tumor surgery, vascular surgery, Meniere's disease and vertigo, and other lesions of the skull base. The papers by and large are of high quality, are well written and illustrated, and reflect the expertise of the individual contributors. The
